An FCA Project for Ikea in Southern China -1.4 million cbm/year -1,600 truckloads per month -1,200 container bookings 2001: When Ikea considered changing its purchase terms from FOB China port to FCA supplier, thereby taking over responsibility for all the inland trucking and warehousing from its suppliers. The project involves coordinating six trucking teams and 120 suppliers and arranging for deliveries to the customer-nominated consolidation point as well as to the port. While working for Ikea, Younger Niche also handles all documents for the suppliers. YN arranged for a six-person team to work in-house at Ikea. The team handles all bookings with carriers, booking on-line through the Ikea's computer system and reviewing suppliers' import documents. The result: reduced trucking costs, increased transparency in the transportation system from supplier to store, and greater control over the packing and storage of cargo. y working closely with Ikea while it reviewed all its processes, Younger Niche accomplished a smooth and complete turnover within four months. YN also transported 60,000tons of steel from the Shanghai Port up river to various fabricators. The work lasted over a year with over 25 different barge shipments.
